The Maker AR: A high performance 35mm or 50mm customised carbon wheelset guaranteed for life and designed for the modern generation of disc brake equipped bikes which are capable both on- and off-road.
This is the most versatile wheel we build and is equally at home on a go-fast road bike as an Open UP or similar adventure bike. The Maker AR allows you to explore the countryside around you wether on tarmac or off the beaten path and removes the limits of traditional road wheelsets.
The Maker AR’s 23mm bead-width allows you to install any tyre from 25mm to 45mm. It is tubeless-ready to work with the latest generation of tubeless-road tyres and has been painstakingly designed to be as easy as possible to install these often tight-fitting tyres. Matched to the tubeless design is a hooked bead which allows the use of non-tubeless tyres and to provide uncompromised safety.

Disc brakes are nothing new to us at Wheelworks: While the rest of the industry tries to catch up to this ‘latest trend’ our staff bikes have been using discs for years. The Maker AR is the latest addition to the Maker family and sports a wide profile to match the current crop of disc-road frames with ample tyre clearance. By combining the advantages in stopping power from discs, with the wind cheating profile of the Maker rim, the Maker AR Carbon Disk is a true neoclassic of carbon wheels.

Maker AR Disc Rim Info
The Maker AR Disc uses a hooked bead and tubeless-ready bed allowing the use of tubeless-ready tyres like Schwalbe’s Pro One as well as traditional inner tube’d tyres.. A deep internal channel allows easy fitting and removal of both tyres of tyre, and the hooked bead ensures safety is never compromised.

Tyre Pressure Suggestions
This wheelset uses a tubeless-ready hooked bead allowing the use of both traditional road tyres with inner tubes fitted, or tubeless-ready tyres so regardless of what tyres you want to use we’ve got you covered.
Tubeless rimtape is fitted and a pair of light weight CNC aluminium tubeless valves is supplied.
Our attention to detail extends to the tubeless valves: serrated lockrings makes them easy to fit or remove and integrated wrench-flats are provided for super-tight valves. The valve cores are removable for easy cleaning or for assistance while installing difficult tubeless tyres. The inner section of the valve is optimised for our rims ensuring an easy air-tight fit.
We use the DT Swiss Aerolite bladed spoke for all of our premium wheels. The Aerolite has a round 2.0mm diameter head and thread, and is tapered and flattened to a 0.9×2.3mm bladed center section.
We take the excellent quality DT Swiss spokes and then apply some Wheelworks magic to them to further increase their durability. Rather than rely on boxed spoke lengths in 2mm increments we cut each and every spoke to the exact length needed, down to 0.1mm, and then roll 10mm of beautiful new thread on our Japanese made Morizumi machine. Exact spoke length means the spoke nipples are fully supported and eliminates nipple breakage, even when using light weight aluminium nipples.
Once our spokes are laced into your wheels they go through a rigours pre-stress procedure which eliminates any popping or pinging of the spokes and further increases their durability.
Because of our attention to detail we offer a lifetime guarantee against broken spokes on all our wheels.
We have a lifetime guarantee on the Maker because we know it will last. You’ll never break a spoke. Unless you whack something really hard the wheel will never go out of true. The hub’s bearings and the rim’s brake track will wear with use (that’s normal and unavoidable) but until they’re worn-out nothing strange will happen to the wheelset. And if something weird did happen we’re here and we’ll take care of it. We promise.
There are two types of warranty: The one where a product is produced so cheaply that it’s expected to fail and be replaced, and the type where so much effort and attention to detail goes into it’s production that the chance of failure is tiny. Our warranty the second type. We use only the highest quality products and we put an exorbitant amount of effort into the wheelbuilding and quality-control processes and that allows us to stand behind what we build and sell.
This warranty does not mean your lifetime, but the wheelset’s. “How long should a wheelset last for?” is not easy to answer and subject to all sorts of variables. In short, a wheel set free from abuse and neglect will go the distance; we pride ourselves in the value you will get out of our products.
This warranty is for the original owner and does not cover damage caused by improper care, negligence, normal wear and tear, accident, improper usage, or the natural breakdown of colours and materials over extended time and use.
This warranty covers the hub from material defects, spokes and rim for the life of the wheel, and workmanship.
