PREPARING FOR REPAIR
To help us help you by saving some time and labour costs here are a few things you can do from home that will save us time doing it ourselves. Please clean your wheels - we need to keep a spotless workshop so nothing gets damaged when we build. And we can only inspect and work on clean wheels.
1) If you’re only getting a hub service, please remove your cassette and brake rotors. This allows us easy access to the hub bearings. If you’re able to easily remove your tyres, that would be great, but it’s not essential.
2) Please leave the endcaps and freehub body on the wheels. We need these to hold the wheels in our truing stand, and to ascertain correct dish. We do not need your thru-axle.
3) If your repair involves spokes, nipples, rim etc. then please remove your tyres, cassette and brake rotors. We need clear access to the spokes, and if we’re re-tensioning the wheel then Grimlock needs to push directly on the hub flanges. You can see Grimlock in action here. Please leave your axle, freehub body and end caps on the wheels. There’s no need to remove your rim tape - we will remove it and replace it if necessary during your repair.
If you don’t have time or don’t feel comfortable doing these, we can certainly do them for you. But be aware this costs us time (and therefore costs you money!) In particular, some mountain bike tubeless tyres with heavy casings and tyre inserts can be very difficult and messy (and therefore expensive) for us to remove and refit.
NZPOST COURIER COLLECTION:
Please let us know if you require a courier pickup. We can create a courier label which you can print and attach to the box and then organize for an NZ Post pickup or drop at any post shop or outlet. The cost on this varies from $25 for a single wheel in the North Island to $95 for a pair of wheels in the South Island.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
If you’re sending your wheel to us from outside of New Zealand please get in touch with us before shipping for help filling in the shipper’s Consignment Note
If you have any questions please give us a call on 04 387 3592 otherwise we’ll see you or your wheel shortly!
